In the Studio: Day 3

We started tracking guitars in a different studio in East Nashville, which Bobby enjoyed since it was 15 minutes from his house instead of 50. In 3 hours, Bobby finished rhythm guitars on 2 songs (5 tracks each!) and they’re sounding great already. We’re heading back early next week and planning to get an earlier start so we’ll have more time to tweak sounds and parts.

We entered the studio today with a 4-hour block to record bass on 5 tunes. Even with some technical difficulties (thanks, Pro Tools: neither “Pro” nor “Tools”… discuss amongst yourselves) Craig was able to knock them all out of the park.

Over the next few weeks, Salient will be making several appearances around Nashville, to stay local while we are busy recording the next project. Here’s the list:

Madison Folk Festival

In the Studio: Day 1

Even though it’s been a little quiet around here, we’ve been busy writing and tweaking and demoing new material for our most ambitous project yet. Today we finally started putting our ideas to tape. Well, not really tape, but you get the idea.

Preston Lane joined us in the studio this morning (very, very early this morning) and he did a stellar job getting 5 songs tracked for the project. It’s almost embarrassing how quickly he was able to get quality sounds and multiple usable takes for each song – he’s set the bar high for the rest of us.

Salient is joining forces with our friends Uncharted Waters this Saturday night at Sodium in Franklin, TN. Come hear our award-winning song “I Won’t Let It Go”, our #1 radio single “My Security”, and other favorites live at one of Franklin’s best new music venues. The music begins at 7pm and admission is $7 for adult non-members.

Sodium™ is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on enriching the lives of families. We do this by providing collaborative events and facilities that appeal to all ages of the entire family in one place- activities that help us open communication and engage members of our family.
